I have to shout out Restored 316 designs for making my site look pretty :). I use the Simply Charming Theme, but everything they design is beautiful. Each theme from Restored 316 comes with really specific instructions (and videos) for how to set up and customize your theme, making it so easy to get your website up and running!
My theme runs on the Genesis Framework by StudioPress. Genesis is basically the foundation that runs everything, and my theme is like the house on top that my content lives in and viewers see. Without getting too technical, Genesis keeps my site safe and search engine optimized.
I signed up for BlueHost because it was one of the recommended sites by WordPress.org. And basically every blogger and influencer I read. Bonus, you get a free domain when you sign up. I bought my domain YEARS ago. Mostly, I was afraid one of my namesakes would buy it up and use it for something I wouldn’t want future employers to stumble upon if they were googling me. Luckily, Bluehost makes it super easy to import any domains you already own. I actually transferred my domain name to BlueHost as well, just so all my renewals were in the same place and I didn’t have to worry about any future problems if something went down at that other site. Bluehost is also how I manage my blog’s email (go ahead and click it to say Hi!)
Though I prefer reading most books out loud, I’ve been an Audible subscriber since college! The only way I could get through all of the required novels in a semester was to basically live with my headphones in so I could be “reading” while driving, washing the dishes, and folding laundry. I especially love getting memoirs as audiobooks because I feel like hearing the author’s voice out loud really helps me connect to their story.
